This kind of felt like a lot of things other than a rocket mission, really. The breeze, the fresh autumn air, pleasant company – it felt a lot more like a nice little trip. Maybe even a date, really. But Vio had to remind herself that she joined Rocket not as a honey trap or a con-girl, even though she was more than willing to undertake such tasks. But at best, right then, she was assistant to the science department. So, maybe she should not follow her natural inclination of seeing potentially abusable scenarios anywhere. In fact, with Rocket, she was kind of trying to make some genuine connections. Though it usually failed, due to just being a grunt.

The thoughts saw her softly sighing, until the peach-haired woman pulled her out of that funk with an upbeat voice and comment. “It certainly is,” she replied without thinking much. Just a genuine response from a woman who, at least for the moment, simply decided to be genuine. “And sure, a break would work out nicely I reckon. Though, admittedly, I have not been to many picnics, as that might be called, personally.” Usually, the meals she shared were dinners, sometimes breakfasts. Even back in her ranger-training days, they hardly ever had reasons to go out for a picnic. Kind of defeated the purpose to go out and picnic in the green, when the green started five feet from your doorstep.

She had seen it in the movies though. That’s why her thoughts immediately went there. It was one of those things she’d wanted to try. But it always felt awkward to ask. A lady should be asked to join one, after all. Not be the one asking.

Agreeable, yes, that was a good way to describe this young woman. Agreeable, soft, gentle, that was her first impression of her fellow Rocket. Not really living up to the stereotype there, but that was probably a good thing, considering. The rough and tumble wing of the organization was not exactly Vio’s favourite. She had one contact from that side, really, and Cyg was probably a bit out of place there to begin with.

But yes, this was quite nice. Once invited, she swiftly took place next to the other, tucking her legs to the side, away from Nomi. “Hmm, I would say for a good few months by now. Almost a year, actually.” Time really did fly. And she still had to get to know the head scientist better, really. It just was difficult to connect with this woman when she mostly had to kind of cheat her way through the real sciency stuff.

But maybe she could get some aid from this girl. She had to had some academic chops to be in this department as well, after all. “How about you? I have not seen you around the lab often, though that admittedly does not mean much. Though you do have quite the striking looks, so it is hard to miss you after all.” Granted, she certainly had those herself, but this was also about fishing for comments like this, not just making the points on her own. Violet tended to always pursue at least two things at once. That just felt better.

Six months? That wasn’t that much shorter than she had. Still, Violet was in for longer, so regardless of everything else, she would now consider herself the other’s senior one way or another. That was just how her way of thinking worked, really. “It does indeed,” she hence replied, but mostly intent on listening in – until a small horde of Pokemon decided to crash the party. Well, they did not quite crash it, but their coming still meant at least somewhat of an interruption for their current pleasantries.

Vio sighed. There always had to be annoyances, didn’t there? Vio wasn’t in any mood to catch them, either. Spinda were weak and weird. They could probably be traded for collectors, but if they ruined the mood, they didn’t deserve to be part of anyone’s team. Though she also did not want to react too strongly to not look weird in front of the other, either. Nomi did seem to take it well, with a laugh, so Violet decided to not let her visage darken, but instead follow that lead. “Well, we probably have too much anyway. I guess we could share a little as long as they behave. They always say that feeding wild Pokemon is a bad idea, but that really is not true in my experience. For one, they become more likely to peacefully interact with humans than attack them over food in their evolved forms if fed as younglings. Though granted, this one can’t evolve. But also, it takes multiple occasions to actually farm a habit. Probably, nothing bad will happen if we give them something. Though twelve might be a bit too many to feed come to think of it…” She put a finger on her lips, thinking.

Certainly, that woman was much more of a scholar than she was. Violet did not even remotely think about taking notes here, she just watched and committed some of it to memory. Then again, that was how she approached knowledge to begin with. As something that was mostly hers to decide the usefulness of and use for herself or not. She rarely ever considered giving it out to others. Even now, for Rocket, it was ultimately about her own gain, of course. But she would not consider taking notes of such an everyday event still. That just wasn’t something she thought of, really.

But it was nice to see others taking it more seriously, regardless. “Hmm, it seems like these are quite voracious. I don’t think we have enough to feed them full, so it’s probably best not to give them too much.” She sighed to herself. “Though I doubt they will just let us picknick in peace now, given that they seem hungry. I am not sure how to best shoo them away. Spinda are….not logical things, really. Something is really odd about them in general.”

This was a tad bit unexpected. But Violet could not say she disliked it at all. Nomi always seemed like a gentle soul, much more than she herself could well pretend to be most of the time. Yet her solution to this issue was a kind of violence. Granted, one that did not cause a lot of irrevocable damage, but still enough to hurt those Spinda, even though doing it mentally just saw them being forced back.

It was a fairly decent solution. One that technically could allow them to just continue their picnic, yet the other did not seem to see it that way. Not that Vio could or would argue with that. Instead, she sighed. “I guess you are right. It is a shame though. I did quite enjoy our little outing so far, I have to say.” But that could not be helped. At least not in that moment. Who knew what kind of Pokemon might appear next?

Well, that was something at least. The other seemingly had liked it as well and was open for a repeat. Maybe after they had found what they were looking for. This was far from over, ultimately, even though they had to vacate this. “I guess we can just have dinner or something after the mission. In a place without Pokemon.” Which was kind of more akin to a date, but Vio certainly did not mind that much. She was not constantly on the lookout for complications like that, but she did not mind that at all. It was always fun, in her experience, as long as the other person wasn’t too shabby.

Hence, she took the hand offered to her. “And I guess that is actually a benefit. After all, even if we are interrupted, at least you will be getting something out of it.” Violet less so, but she was the kind of person that liked to study people instead. She could simply watch the other girl watch pokemon and would find her own happiness thataway.
